FoodX is looking for a full-time, permanent Operations Manager based out of our South Burnaby, BC head office (#105 5566 Trapp Avenue). This position requires being able to work a four-month rotational schedule that will include overnights and weekends. Flexibility is required. 

The Operations Manager is a key part of the leadership team and oversees all the warehouse operations (Inbound, Outbound, and ICQA) and is the point of contact with other departments in the organization. This individual is instrumental to ensure the success of the 24/7 operation and helps promote a company culture that encourages morale and performance.

• Lead and supervise a team of Warehouse Managers (4-6 front-line leaders) and 200+ hourly team members in the warehouse operations
• Identify safety and maintenance concerns and finds resolutions
• Comply with safety polices, accident prevention procedures, and compliance programs and maintains a clean and sanitary work environment
• Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs
• Identify future leaders, mentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learning
• Keep the pace with the explosive growth while motivating others to meet the challenges of an extremely deadline-driven environment
• Drive process improvement to optimize productivity and efficiency by collaborating on policy deployment in the areas of Lean Six Sigma techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer-satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and site performance measures
• Implement programs to optimize workflow, accuracy, and productivity
• Lead managers to evaluate and take actions that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy
• Develop and controll the Operations budget by monitoring actual performance against performance goals to ensure progress is being made and corrective action, if necessary, is taken
• Regularly confer with leadership team to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions
• Track performance metrics and conduct performance evaluations
• Determine staff sizes and shift times to ensure efficiency in daily operations
• Strategize weekly, monthly and yearly objectives and ensures they are executed according to schedule
• Work collaboratively with other departments towards operational excellence
• Other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• A completed Bachelors Degree from an accredited University
• Authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship
• Direct management experience for salaried employees and their performance
• Candidates must be flexible to work weekends and/or overnight shifts regularly
• Previous experience in an Operations or Production Management position
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation
• Strong analytical ability and strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, working on your feet, and in cooler/freezer rooms as required 

Preferred Qualifications

• University Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field and MBA preferred
• 5+ years of management experience within warehouse management, logistics and supply chain
• Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results 
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills

• Strong process improvement mindset and a background in 5S or other continuous improvement methodologies
