FoodX is looking for a full-time, permanent Director of Site Operations based out of our South Burnaby, BC facility (#105 5566 Trapp Avenue). This position has a usual schedule of Monday- Friday during general business hours, however we are looking for a candidate with flexibility with their hours and the ability to work other shifts as needed. 

Duties & Responsibilities

The Director of Site Operations is a key member of the FoodX & SPUD.ca Operations Leadership Team. Overseeing our warehouse and delivery leadership in all locations, the Director of Site Operations is responsible for championing an industry leading customer experience, while minimizing operational costs, creating an engaging work culture and developing a road plan for ongoing innovation.


  • Lead with positivity and empathy, while ensuring that team members respect their peers and the requirements of their positions.
  • Engage and develop your direct team through coaching, support and regular feedback.
  • Provide instruction and support to your direct team of Managers and Sr. Managers, in warehouse and delivery.
  • Plan and coordinate all warehouse & delivery activities.
  • Prepare for and conduct daily team huddles and other communication touchpoints
  • Monitor and report on operations KPIs. Develop concrete plans for ongoing improvement.
  • Manage the operations labour budget, with a focus on ongoing cost reduction.
  • Oversee warehouse space utilization, day-to-day facility function, and general supply management, with an eye towards maximizing cost efficiency.
  • Assist with labour relations for a team of over 500 employees, including disciplinary action, grievance resolution and general employee assistance.
  • Support the OH&S committee in promoting a safe work environment. Engage all team members in championing a workplace that cherishes the health and wellbeing of all personnel
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance of and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Challenge all current practices. Develop and execute plans for continuous improvements in efficiency and customer experience.
  • Represent the interests of the operations team in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Foster strong inter-departmental communication practices and embrace the internal service role of the operations team.
  • Drive strategic planning and execution for operational excellence. Push through barriers and boundaries, and contribute meaningfully to the ongoing creation of industry-defining standards and practices
  • Embrace technology and automation as solutions to enhance the capabilities of the operations team and reduce variance and barriers to top performance
  • Provide hands-on instruction and direction, being the example of commitment and hustle.
  • Work with your team to expand capacity, both in terms of output and geographic regions served
  • Take the lead on site expansion and relocation efforts, as required by the business
  • Support the SVP Global Solutions and other executive and operational leaders in achieving primary organizational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of Creating Amazing Experiences, for all stakeholders.
  • Seek out and engage in opportunities to further personal leadership development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • An MBA or demonstrably equivalent experience in business administration
  • 5+ years experience in Operations Management (warehousing, delivery, distribution, inventory control, human resources), working at a senior/executive level.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and think creatively to develop unique and effective solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to cultivate an engaging team culture
  • Desire to actively innovate, change and improve processes on a daily basis.
