FoodX is looking for a full-time, permanent Health and Safety Coordinator based out of our South Burnaby, BC facility (#105 5566 Trapp Avenue). This position has a usual schedule of Monday- Friday during general business hours, however we are looking for a candidate with flexibility with their hours and the ability to work other shifts as needed. 

Duties & Responsibilities

The Health & Safety Coordinator wants to ensure that everyone leaves work in the same condition they arrived. They spearhead our H&S initiatives, support education and training, monitor our progress and our adherence and generally work to keep our team and work environment healthy & safe.


  • Oversee all safety programs for the FoodX facility
  • Work closely in partnership with operational leadership to ensure that best practices are designed and executed with H&S in mind
  • Take the lead on further developing a safety-first culture including executing our health and safety requirements on all shifts such as building walk-throughs, H&S orientations, investigating incidents, ensuring standards are being met, and training team members, etc.
  • Conduct safety audits and create/execute on safety action plans
  • Monitor daily activities and coach team on safe working practices
  • Draft responses and execute on plans for any WorkSafe inspections
  • Assist with development and training for all other worksites in the SPUD & FoodX network
  • Support JHSC and their initiatives
  • Arrange all necessary external H&S training and/or certifications for team members
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of safety regulations and legislationOther duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working in a safety position
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma preferred
  • Professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong computer skills
  • Demonstrated relationship building and management skills
  • Highly developed communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Able to work autonomously and be a self-starter
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs continuously
  • Ability to work on your feet all day, bending, leaning, crouching and walking
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time, and entire shifts in our walk-in refrigerated coolers or freezers
